Upon your arrival at IXB/NJP, our representative will warmly welcome you and assist you with the transfer to Darjeeling, which is located 90 kilometers away and takes approximately 3 hours to reach. Formerly known as the summer capital of India, Darjeeling offers a diverse range of attractions and a captivating atmosphere. This enchanting destination showcases a harmonious blend of vibrant nature and the charming local populace of the Himalayan region. Nestled amidst picturesque tea gardens, this quaint town offers breathtaking views of the towering Himalayan peaks. After taking some time to relax, we recommend taking a leisurely stroll around town to immerse yourself in the unique culture and ambiance. You will spend the night at the hotel, ensuring a comfortable stay during your time in Darjeeling.
Begin your day with an early morning excursion to Tiger Hill (subject to availability of passes) to witness the mesmerizing sunrise and its breathtaking impact on Mt. Kanchendzonga, the third highest peak in the world. On your way back to the hotel, make a stop at Ghoom Monastery and Batashia Loop War Memorial. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, embark on a half-day local sightseeing tour that includes notable attractions such as the RopeWay, Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Padmaja N. Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center, and the Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda. Later, explore the Mall (Chowrasta) and immerse yourself in the vibrant city life at the local market. Retire for the night at the hotel, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay.
After morning breakfast you will be transfered to Gangtok (110kms/4hrs), at an altitude of 5500ft Gangtok is the Capital of Sikkim. Overnight at hotel
After enjoying breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Gangtok and transferred to Lachen, covering a distance of 135 kilometers which takes approximately 6-6.5 hours. On the way, you will have the opportunity to indulge in sightseeing at Sighik Viewpoint, Chumthang Valley, Twin Falls, and Vima Falls. By late afternoon or early evening, you will reach Lachen. Lachen is renowned for its snow-capped peaks, the Shingbha wildlife sanctuary, Gurudongmar Lake, Chopta Valley, and Thangu, which are the major attractions in the area. This valley is nestled amidst majestic snow-covered mountains, creating a humbling and awe-inspiring atmosphere. Lachen serves as the starting point for the Green Lake Trek and is akin to a hidden hamlet, protected by towering rock faces. The village is sparsely populated, creating a sense of seclusion and tranquility. Upon arrival, check into a hotel and enjoy a warm welcome tea. In the evening, you are free to take a leisurely stroll and visit the Lepcha Village. You will spend the night at a hotel in Lachen, ensuring a comfortable overnight stay.
Commence your day with an early morning drive towards Thangu Village, situated at an altitude of 13,625 feet (4,100 meters). This remote village is home to Tibetan Nomads and offers a glimpse into their unique way of life. Continue your journey to Chopta Valley, where you will be treated to a mesmerizing view of the alpine valley adorned with frozen rivers. Please note that the visit to Chopta Valley will be limited to an outer view only. From there, drive for approximately 30 kilometers in 1.5 hours to reach Gurudongmar Lake, situated at an elevation of 17,375 feet (5,225 meters). This sacred lake is nestled in a valley at an altitude of 11,800 feet and is often covered in snow from December to April, adding to its mystical charm. After enjoying lunch, proceed to Lachung, covering a distance of 49 kilometers in a 2-hour journey. You will spend the night at a hotel in Lachung, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay.
After a delightful breakfast, embark on a half-day excursion to Yumthang Valley. On your way, you will have the opportunity to visit the Hot Spring and Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary. The natural beauty of Switzerland and the breathtaking landscapes of Yumthang Valley are often indistinguishable in some photographs. Yumthang Valley, situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet, is located approximately 135 kilometers away from Gangtok. During the months of April and May, the valley is adorned with vibrant flowers and orchids, creating a colorful spectacle. In contrast, from the end of November to March, the valley is usually covered in a blanket of snow, offering a serene and picturesque winter landscape. After exploring Yumthang Valley, return to Lachung for lunch, followed by your onward journey back to Gangtok. You will spend the night at a hotel in Gangtok, ensuring a comfortable overnight stay.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, embark on a half-day trip to Tsomgo Lake, situated at an altitude of 12,400 feet. This oval-shaped lake is located a mere 32 kilometers from Gangtok City and stretches approximately 1 kilometer in length, with a depth of 15 meters. The local people hold the lake in high reverence and consider it to be sacred. Following the visit to Tsomgo Lake, continue your journey to Baba Mandir, which is located 18 kilometers away from the lake. This temple is dedicated to the army personnel who have mysteriously disappeared. After paying your respects at Baba Mandir, return to Gangtok. In the evening, you are free to explore Gangtok at your own leisure, indulge in shopping, or engage in individual activities. You will spend the night at a hotel in Gangtok. (Please note that an optional tour to Nathula, the Indo-China border, is available, subject to the availability of a special permit for Indian tourists. Additional payment is required in Gangtok to obtain a separate permit. Please be aware that Nathula is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Overnight accommodation will be provided at a hotel in Gangtok.)
